Sustainability is not something consumers should have to question when purchasing seafood. Advancements in managing sustainable fisheries have allowed companies to increase their ability to supply sustainably harvested seafood to a growing global population while allowing us to monitor the effects on our oceans more clearly than ever before. The importance of protecting our oceans has turned into an international collaboration of industry leaders like ourselves who take the steps to monitor and evaluate sustainability closely. Tradex Foods is proud to be certified by the Marine Stewardship Council who works with strong partners in the seafood industry that source certified sustainable seafood - strengthening global consumer demand for sustainable production.
In 2017, Tradex Foods developed a system to track every single pound of seafood produced in our SINBAD Brands and Private Label production in order to thoroughly assess the integrity of our sustainability policies. By the end of 2020, Tradex Foods successfully achieved its goal of 100% Sustainability Rating Score.
This means that 100% of all raw materials used in the production of our SINBAD Brands (SINBAD, SINBAD Gold, and SINBAD Platinum), and all Private Label seafood production in 2023 used raw materials harvested from sustainable fisheries.
HOW DID WE DO IT?
Find Out In Our 2023 Sustainability Report!
Tradex Foods provides leadership in sustainability through education and the adoption of globally recognized best practices and standards in sustainability to ensure a vibrant industry for future generations.
In 2010, we created inFINite Sustainability Tracker to help our customers view the most sustainable (and least sustainable) seafood sourcing options which included carbon footprint calculations for transporting seafood for our SINBAD and SINBAD Platinum brand seafood. In 2016, we implemented a Sustainability Production Tracker to track the sustainability status of raw materials used in the production of our SINBAD, SINBAD Gold, and SINBAD Platinum seafood brands. In 2017, we were able to implement the Sustainability Production Tracker before production to help us make smarter, quicker, and more sustainable raw materials purchases which ultimately helped us achieve our record high 92% Sustainability Rating Score for 2017, and finally reaching 100% in 2020.
