It's a Buyers Market for Pacific Cod; 2015 Alaskan Salmon Fisheries It certainly is a buyers market right now for Pacific Cod out of the Gulf of Alaska GOA Pacific Cod vendors have been complaining that the entire Cod Market is messy Uneasy Pacific Cod market likely to continue to cause uncertainty for another 6 months Processors are holding high levels of inventory, especially in fillets #GOAPacificCod Alaskan processors are hesitant to produce more Pacific Cod products until they see some movement Domestic Pacific Cod is much more expensive than the Chinese processed fish 2014 Gulf of Alaska Pacific Cod quota this year was 64.7 metric tonnes Many Pacific Cod vendors are cutting loins because they have an abundance of large fish It is unknown what the size of the fish will be for the upcoming season beginning in January 2015 #GOAPacificCod @NOAA reports only 8 percent of the Pacific Cod quota remains in the Gulf of Alaska This time last year fishermen still had 23 percent of the Pacific Cod quota available in the Gulf of Alaska Prices for Pacific Cod fillets are in the high $2s, out of the Gulf of Alaska inventories The surplus of inventory that vendors are carrying on Pacific Cod forces offers to range by 50 to 60 cents / LB Salmon has certainly been a chatter topic this week #3MMI Both the @NOAA and the ADF&G released several reports for the upcoming 2015 salmon fisheries last week The 2015 Bristol Bay Sockeye fishery is predicted to be the largest harvest in the past 20 years The estimated Bristol Bay harvest for 2015 of just over 40 million Sockeye would be the largest since 1995 An over-abundance of Sockeye in the market could further push down the prices of H&G products ADF&G announced the 2015 Southeast Alaska Pink Salmon harvest to be 58 million fish The estimated Pink Salmon harvests in Southeast Alaska would be 56 % more than the actual harvests in 2014 Pink Salmon run is stronger every other year, it looks like a projected 7% increase can be expected in Alaska Our suggested buy of the week is for 3-4 LB IVP Trim C #1 Premium farmed Atlantic Chilean Salmon Fillets 3-4 LB IVP Trim C #1 Premium farmed Atlantic Chilean Salmon Fillets: $4.65 / LB, full container loads Next we will review the Rock Sole Fishery and give an update on what's happening in the European market Give your Tradex Foods Rep a call to take advantage of our #OfferOfTheWeek
